I am writing to inform you of a proposed change to the structure of the school day here at Woolwich Polytechnic School for Boys.
Following the full re-opening of both our schools, we want to bring them closer together by having consistent school day timings, in order to better support both students and staff. This will enable the sharing of staff and resources, better curriculum support and better support of Learning and Teaching, which will lead to higher standards in both our schools. The changes will also ensure a more consistent experience for staff, students and parents on Wednesdays each week.
The students will not have any decrease in lesson time and will still have the same number of lessons.
The proposed changes are:
- To end the school day 5 minutes later at 3:05pm every day (except Wednesdays) in Week B only
- To end the school day 50 minutes later at 1:50pm every Wednesday Week A, and 65 minutes earlier at 1:55pm every Wednesday Week B
The new school day timings would therefore be as follows:

Should these changes be approved, they would come into effect from 1st September 2022. The information in this letter has also been sent to local bus companies, our catering providers and a range of other interested parties to make sure that we gather a variety of opinions.
I appreciate that these changes may affect you, in terms of childcare or working arrangements for example, and in terms of your child’s education. For this reason, I would like to invite you to give your written feedback by emailing your responses to consultation@woolwichpoly.co.uk by Tuesday 19th April 2022.
We will release the results of the consultation by Monday 25th April 2022 via our website and Weduc and the final decision will be made at that point.
